Then And Now

By Ravi Shankar - August 28, 2017

Then and now
A comparison too deep
Yet too shallow to speak
Then an unwritten page
White as snow
Now an incomplete book
Full of memories, mistakes and deeds
Dark as the thunder cloud
Rumbling and roaring
I soar, with the plains beneath

Then, hiding
Moms back my invisibility cloak
Or in the darkness of the cupboard i used to soak
Now, we hide in plain sight
With masks of laughter and smile
Isn't there just too much disguise?
Well i laugh at the this terrible surprise

Then, thinking
When will i grow up
I can roam, I can soar
Without questions thousans unknown
Have the time of my life
Now, was growing up really necessary
Didn't it happen too fast?
With a mind of 30 in a body of 20
Soaring a dream
Survival a reality

Thinking there's too much to say
Too less a time
Then and now is a mystery undefined
You know it all yet you know nothing
Its all how you journey through the knox
In this filthy paradox

Lets make it a memorable one
I know there is a dying sun
Lets make it burn, Lets try and soar
This darkened sky, with plains beneath
With nowhere to go but the empty heath
I will journey from then to now with my sword unsheathed.
