Insomnia

When the sun starts to sink
And the moon begins to rise
There is a moment of bliss
Twilight, not a sight to miss
Yet you do, you just walk through

Its not the sight, but the coming night
When Darkness spreads its wings
With each passing second the voices die
All you hear is the sound of silence

When the whole world falls prey to slumber
I lie awake listening to the cries of my soul
Trying to sleep, i dive deep
Thoughts rise to break free
A condition born, insomnia its name

Mischievous, disturbing but loyal
In the void of darkness
Where the voices don't reach
Where just emptiness exists
It lets you reach your innerself

A pool of memories
A barrage of thoughts
With no one to talk to
It doesn't leave your side
And you can't sleep
You lay awake, with an unexpected, unwanted observer
Insomnia its name.

And i would love to leave its side
And fall into the world of dreams,
But i can't to seem to find the exit
The path to light
With years of fight and fading light
I have come to accept the feat
The feat of befriending this notorious beast
Insomnia its name.
